Success Is Liking Yourself
We are often taught to measure success by what we achieve. The job, the money, the house, the recognition, the goals we reach and the approval we receive from other people. Yet there is another measure of success that is far more personal: do you actually like the person you have become? Liking yourself is not the same as believing you are perfect. It does not mean thinking you are better than everyone else or pretending that you have no weaknesses. It means being able to look at yourself honestly without turning every mistake into a reason to dislike who you are.
Many people spend years trying to become the person they think others will approve of. They change their opinions, hide their insecurities and chase achievements because they believe the next success will finally make them feel good enough.
But if you do not like yourself before you achieve something, there is no guarantee that achievement will change anything. There will always be another target.
The more interesting question is what happens when you stop making your worth dependent on reaching the next one.
You can recognise the things you want to improve without treating yourself as a failure. You can make mistakes without using them as evidence that something is fundamentally wrong with you. You can listen to criticism without allowing somebody else's opinion to become your identity.
Real confidence begins when you stop needing constant proof that you are worthy. Success is not about becoming someone else. It is about removing the beliefs that tell you that who you are is not enough. Like yourself first. Then decide what you want to become.
