Many of Life’s Failures
Failure can feel like a full stop. You try something, it doesn't work and the temptation is to decide that you weren't good enough, clever enough or capable enough, but what if failure isn't the end of the story?
The message behind “Many of Life’s Failures” is that we can sometimes give up just before things begin to change. The distance between failure and success isn't always as great as it appears. Sometimes the difference is one more attempt, one more idea or the decision to keep going when everything is telling you to stop.
That doesn't mean you should blindly persist with something that clearly isn't working. Positive thinking isn't about refusing to accept reality. It is about understanding what went wrong, learning from it and deciding what you want to do next.
A failed business can teach you something about business. A rejected application can show you where you need to improve. A missed opportunity can reveal that there may be another route you haven't considered.
Failure becomes useful when you learn from it and sometimes the greatest mistake is allowing one failure to become a definition of who you are.
You are not your mistakes. You are not your disappointments. You are not the things that didn't work. They are experiences. They are lessons. They are part of your story.
So before you give up, stop and ask yourself one question: Am I really finished, or am I standing closer to success than I realise? Sometimes the next attempt is the one that changes everything.
