Love Who You Are
How often do we look at ourselves and see everything we think needs to change? We compare ourselves with other people, focus on our mistakes, worry about what others think and create an imaginary version of ourselves that we believe would be more successful, attractive, confident or lovable. But what happens when we stop?
Love who you are is not about believing that you are perfect. It is about recognising that you don't have to be perfect to deserve your own acceptance.
There will always be things you want to improve. You may want to become healthier, learn something new, change a habit or become more confident. None of those ambitions mean there is something wrong with you.
You are not broken. That distinction matters. Self-improvement should come from wanting to discover what you are capable of, not from believing that the person you are today isn't good enough.
Your mistakes don't make you a mistake. Your failures don't define you. Other people's opinions don't determine your value.
Learning to love who you are also means becoming comfortable with your imperfections. You can acknowledge the things you would like to change without turning them into reasons to dislike yourself.
Positive thinking begins with the way you speak to yourself. Would you speak to someone you loved in the same way you sometimes speak to yourself?
If the answer is no, maybe it is time to change that conversation. Look at yourself with a little more understanding. Recognise how far you have already come. Give yourself permission to grow without constantly telling yourself that you need fixing.
Love who you are. Then discover who you could become.
