I Want Love to Rule

What would happen if we allowed love to have a greater influence on the way we live? It is an interesting question because we often give other things far more power. Money can influence our decisions. Fear can determine what we do. Anger can shape our reactions. Other people's opinions can change the way we see ourselves. But what if love had the final say?

“I Want Love to Rule” is more than a romantic sentiment. It is a choice about the kind of person we want to be and the kind of world we want to help create. The poster sits within the Motivation and Young People categories, with Happiness as its central theme.

Love doesn't mean agreeing with everyone. It doesn't mean allowing people to treat us badly or avoiding difficult conversations. Sometimes love means setting boundaries. Sometimes it means telling someone the truth. Sometimes it means walking away.

But it does mean choosing understanding before judgement, kindness before cruelty and compassion before assuming we know what somebody else is experiencing. It also means turning some of that love towards ourselves.

We can be remarkably hard on ourselves. We make mistakes and call ourselves failures. We have a bad day and decide something is wrong with us. We compare our lives with other people's and convince ourselves that we aren't good enough.

You are not broken. You are human. Imagine if the voice inside your head spoke to you with the same kindness you would offer someone you loved. That could change a lot.

We cannot control everything that happens around us. We can, however, influence the way we respond. So perhaps the question isn't whether love can rule the world. Maybe it starts with allowing love to rule the way we think, speak and treat the people around us.
