Become a Person of Value
What makes someone valuable? We often answer that question by looking at money, status, qualifications or success. We measure people by what they earn, what they own or how important they appear to be. But there is another kind of value, and it has very little to do with any of those things. A person of value is someone who makes a difference.
It might be through the way they treat other people, the knowledge they share, the problems they solve or the encouragement they offer when somebody needs it. Value can be found in a conversation, a helping hand, an idea or the decision to do the right thing when nobody is watching.
Becoming a person of value isn't about trying to impress everyone around you. It is about asking a more important question: What can I contribute? What do I know that could help someone else? What can I learn? How can I make the lives of the people around me a little better?
And this doesn't mean forgetting yourself. You have value before you achieve anything. You are not broken, and you don't have to prove your worth by becoming somebody else. The challenge is to discover what you can bring to the world and then develop it.
Learn something. Share something. Help someone. Listen. Create. Encourage. Solve a problem. Every one of those things adds value. Your worth isn't determined by how much attention you receive or how many people recognise what you do.
Sometimes the most valuable people in our lives are the ones who never ask for recognition at all. Don't spend your life trying to prove that you matter. Discover what you can give, and become someone whose presence makes a difference.
